Cancer
I really think that all people are born with the cancer gene but some people just don't "activate" it. I am not sure why all of the sudden I have been indated with people who have cancer. Just this year I now have 5 close people with cancer. My brother, my mother, our good friend in Colorado, my brother-in-law, my father-in-law. I swear I don't know what to do next somedays. I know I have to keep my chin up for everyone but it is hard.
My brother, Larry, has a soft cell cancer...can't tell you what it is called just that it is right at the bend of his right leg - at the thigh abdomen. He is currently taking radiation and once that is completed then he will have surgery to remove the spot which looks to be about the size of a softball now and is suppose to get larger. Larry is currently off work on disability because he his treatments are daily right now. He is still camping when he can which I am sure is a good outlet to get away from the world.
Our friend in Denver, Daryl is doing really good. The doctors took out a large amount of his colon and sent him on his way. We just saw Daryl and Terri at their sons wedding a couple of weeks ago and he looked really good.
Owen, my brother-in-law has just found out that he has skin cancer. He is a 20 year cancer survivor and now has been hit with cancer yet again. He went today to get biopsies done and we will should know more about them in a few days.
My father-in-law has just been diagnosed with prostrate cancer. He was going today for further testing and then goes to the doctor tomorrow to see what the treatment options are for him. More later on him.
Now about mom...she has been having problems with her bladder and found out that she has bladder cancer. It is an aggressive form of cancer in stage 3. There are 2 ways to treat this and she heard both of them and picked the one that suited her the best. This involves removal of the bladder and urethra and taking about 3-5 inches of her colon to make a new voiding system. She will have a bag for collection of her urine. He said that with this option she will not have to endure chemo or radiation. However, the surgery will last 4-6 hours and recovery will be about 5-9 days in the hospital. We are very optimistic about the outcome - and understand that the recovery will be very difficult on someone her age but with love I am sure that she will make it just fine.
Please keep all of these people in your prayers...
I guess my blogging time is about over. Kristi and Tom are going to the 9:45 movie of Iornman. I am really getting into this internet cafe scene. I am sure I will be back. Our internet at home is satellite and it is a joke to say the least. Sorry is my spelling is off tonight. It is rather cold here and Kristi is wanting to leave...and I am the driver!!

If anyone is interested, Larry has a pleomorphic liposarcoma of the right thigh. Pleomorphic meaning that there are more than one type of cell present and may in fact be more than one kind of cancer and liposarcoma meaning that the tumor is making fat. So far so good. Thank you Vietnam.
