Mom is having surgery on July 16th - one day short of one month from her official diagnosis. The surgery will be at Columbia Regional Hospital and she is the only case for this day since her surgery is so intense and they are unsure of how long the surgery will take. The doctor(s) said the surgery should last between 3-5 hours but may last 8 if they see a problem. He said that he plans on being done in time for lunch, but I don't know what time his lunch is...11...12...1...2??? I am planning on 5 so that I am not walking the floor after 3 hours. I have a lot of things to do while I am sitting up there, so I am not worried about waiting just worried about the pain mom will experience after the surgery during recovery. I know this is the best thing for her in this situation and fully support the decision that she has made about her body and future.
This surgery is such that she will have 2 doctors doing the surgery. This means that there will be 2 sets of eyes, hands, and the best 2 brains with each over 20 years experience in this surgery. So, she is in really good hands I think. Keep her in your prayers.
